FINALLY!

We have an official date at last! Friday October 17 (the day before Peter and Teena leave for Puerto Vallarta). The event will be held at Bethel Baptist Church 3325-49 St. SW, Calgary with doors opening at 5:30 pm and supper served at 6:30 pm.
Tickets will be $15.00 per person, non alcoholic beverages will be available. If you are interested in purchasing tickets, please e-mail casaconnor@live.ca or phone Janet @ (403)246-0986 or Geraldine @ (403)249-6710.
If you are interested in donating items for the auction please let us know that as well. We are a registered society but not yet a charitable organization, so unfortunately at this time no taxable receipts can be given. Corporate donations will be acknowledged with a thank-you letter.

YIKES!!!!!

Well, what should have been a fairly simple process is now becoming a rather cumbersome one! The date for the Calgary Fiesta Mexicana WILL BE CHANGED!!!!! We are still trying to confirm a location which has proven to be a lot more difficult than anticipated. As soon as something is confirmed, we will let you know. I can tell you for sure that it will be after Thanksgiving! Sorry for all the confusion :0)

GREAT SUCCESS!

Drumroll please.....the total amount raised in Radium with our two Fiesta Mexicana Fundraisers was $13,237.00! WOW, that is fantastic! Let's hope that the Calgary Fundraiser does at least that much if not more.
Speaking of the Calgary Fiesta, we have confirmed the date as October 4, the ticket price will be $15.00 per person and unfortunately the place is still up in the air. We are really hoping to hold this event in the gym at Calgary Christian School, but still need confirmation of availability pending the Sports program there. We will let you know ASAP!

Radium...here we come!

Tickets are now available for our dinner/auction to be held at the Radium Valley Vacation Resort on 2 nights - September 5 and 6 in the Recreation Center. Dinner begins at 6:00 pm and tickets are available at the front desk for $10.00 per person. So, come out and support a great cause and enjoy a wonderful evening! Questions? Coins for CASA Connor

Hi everyone,

For anyone interested in helping out financially in a way that doesn't really hurt the pocketbook, this may be the thing for you. We have started our first fundraising campaign: Coins for CASA Connor. It is pretty self-explanatory, all you need is a jar that you can fill up with your change. Once full, count it out, and send a cheque in that amount to CASA Connor (see address under "contact us"). This is also an ideal way to include people at work, friends, family members etc.
If any one has any other fundraising ideas, let us know! Together we can accomplish this great feat.

On Our Way

Good Morning Everyone,

Finally an update. We have been hard at work in setting up an official non-profit company and have a few steps to do before we are on our way. The official name is C.A.S.A. Connor (Caring Abroad Society of Alberta) and I have worked on a logo as well (although at this time I have no idea how to upload that :0)
We have 4 board members and are looking for one more. We will need to meet and write up the mission statement, bylaws etc... Please keep praying for things to go as smooth as possible.

CASA CONNOR

Well, here is the announcement: What we have formerly called "Las Palmas" will now hopefully referred to as "Casa Connor". Mom and dad have been heavily involved with a wonderful man by the name of Robin who has been in charge of a home for handicapped people (mostly women, some with children) in the town of Las Palmas. Because the government in Mexico is not like what we are spoiled with here, handicapped people need help from people like us. Robin has been doing this for several years and has paid rent for a building whether full or not in the amount of $500.00 per month. Mom and dad had the great idea of coming up with the money to hopefully build a permanent place as to alleviate the ongoing costs of rent. This house will be called "Casa Connor" in honour of Connor Vanderveen, my son and mom and dad's grandson who has Hunter's Syndrome. This means we will be attempting several fundraisers in the next year, and will of course let you how you can help if you are interested. At this point we don't know how much money is required, but we should know more when mom and dad return in April.
