On June 12, 2009, I (Geraldine) was invited to Connor's school for a special presentation by the brother (and several others) of one of Connor's classmates.
These kids, that attend Rundle College in Calgary, are all part of a group called "Kids for Kids"and they are an exceptional group of young people. For the most part, all of the fundraisers done were self driven, meaning they came up with the ideas and found their own way to carry them out with very little help from their teachers. So, by participating in a Read-a-thon, selling baked goods and poinsettias they raised $9000.00 for CASA Connor!!!!!Yup, I cried! It is so incredible to me that these kids (grades 6-9) were so giving and servant hearted that they did this. I know we often judge this age group as very self absorbed, but they shed a very different light!Thank-you so much, Darian, and all your classmates for such an incredible gift! You have blessed CASA Connor and all the people involved so much, and I am truly humbled by you all!
I also want to take this opportunity to thank my aunt Anneke and her school in Holland who also gave money throughout the year for a total of 600.00 Euros (that's about $900.00 ca).
It is so great to have this dream come alive in all parts of the world!
